Goals

My notes app tends to be my best friend for ideas, thoughts, random notes, and goals. A place to quickly jot down my random thoughts that come to mind as I’m laying down to go to sleep or on a random Tuesday afternoon.

I saw a video years ago, I believe it was a clip from Steve Harvey, that said to write down 300 goals you have for yourself and your future. Be detailed in your goals, even small ones, but write it down. After doing that, look it over every night. Then come back to it in a year or so and see what you’ve accomplished. At least that’s the gist of it.

Now, I’ll be honest, I started that list in a notebook and never finished it. Because let’s be real, trying to come up with 300 different goals is quite the task. It’s also a notebook that I don’t look at or open very often. It gets stored away, out of sight, out of mind until I come across it on a random day when I’m digging through the drawer.

Even though I have never committed to writing down my 300 list, it still shocks me to go back through the list I did start, and be able to check things off. And because of the type of person that I am, I have numerous lists going at once. Lol some of these lists are in my phone, in that notebook, etc. but it never fails, when I go back to the lists, unknowingly, I’ve accomplished some of those goals.

Now, I won’t share what those things are because they’re personal and specific to me, but I encourage everyone to write things down. Ideas, thoughts, goals, etc. anything that you wish to accomplish. And be detailed, very detailed. I’m going to start over and try to reach the 300 number, as hard as it is. Why did he pick the number 300? I’m not sure but, in my opinion, it pushes you to think beyond the surface level, within reach items. It pushes you to really dig and put thought into what you want your future to look like and things you want to experience.

All this to say, have you thought about your goals lately? Do you think you could come up with a list of 300 things?
