This Thanksgiving was a great one! We celebrated it being Noelle’s first, and got to visit with my brother and sister-in-law who came to visit from Ohio! We also went to a Friendsgiving which was a lot of fun – the crazy part, it was in the middle of a snow storm! Who would have thought! lol
We smoked a couple turkeys and a ham – all of them came out so well! My husband is talented at many things but especially when it comes to the smoker.
I tested out a new recipe – candied sweet potatoes – and they turned out pretty well! Next time I think I’ll tweak the recipe just a tad to add some marshmallows on top! The recipe I followed didn’t call for them and the entire dish was made on the stove! I’ve tried candied sweet potatoes in the past but this year’s recipe came out way better, in my opinion.
We did a little Black Friday shopping but nothing crazy. And of course, we had to finish getting the Christmas decorations up which meant putting the tree up! Malia knew exactly what to do without prompting when we got the ornaments out. My husband and I were both kind of shocked because where did she even learn that?! She’s a smart little one! She also made sure to point out that we were missing a star for the top. So I had to make a stop at Walmart for our tree topper. And the only thing our tree will likely be missing for the next few years.. a tree skirt. Witten thinks they’re a blanket and his for the taking. lol If I recall correctly, that is why the tree got knocked over one year when they were still pretty young! 😆 So no breakable ornaments either! At least for now!

Then today, we got to play in the snow a little more as we bought a sled when we were out running errands! Malia had a blast! The joy of seeing your children happy – it’s inexplainable! Just the BEST! From the winter storm we ended up with 6 or 7 inches of snow, and are currently getting about 2 to 4 more inches! Kind of crazy as it’s only December 1st! I hope we aren’t in for a long, snowy winter.
Overall it was a nice long weekend spent with family and friends. 🖤 I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday weekend!
