Thanksgiving Prep

It’s Thanksgiving week!! This is my absolute favorite time of year! Getting together with family and friends, good food, and just the hustle and bustle of everything paired with Christmas lights, decorations, and trees – the BEST! We’ve already broke out some Christmas decor because Malia has been so excited for Christmas! Her excitement makes the season a million times better along with this being Noelle’s first Christmas season!

But, back to Thanksgiving.. we spend Thanksgiving Day with my parents and last year was the first year that my husband and I (mainly my husband lol) got to make the turkey! My husband is really good at smoking food – brisket, ribs, burnt ends, pulled pork, turkey, burgers, etc. Again, the best! So he’s been given the task of smoking the turkey from here on out. Along with that, I’ll make corn casserole – I think this might be a Midwest thing?, and seasoned green beans!

We are also going to a Friendsgiving this weekend! We’ve been to a few of these over the years and it’s just something that I really enjoy! We are smoking a turkey and ham for Friendsgiving! I think we will be in for a lot of festive leftovers. lol But I’m also bringing an apple pie, and candied sweet potatoes. I’ve made them once before but I’m going to make them a bit different this time around. Let’s hope it’s not a complete flop. Do you try new recipes during the holidays or stick to your tried and true?

I’m also hoping we can get out to do some shopping! Malia absolutely loves to shop, and Noelle is starting to enjoy it also. Ha! It’s just a fun time.

Also, just wanted to address, I’ve been a little quiet on here over the last week or so as I’ve had some difficult news to process. I’ll share more at a later time but that’s the reason for lack of posting.

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving that’s full of good food, good company, and football! 🦃🏈
